Nearly 200 persons attended the July 11th launch of the Bishop Melvin George Talbert Leadership Institute, sponsored by Black Methodists for Church Renewal, Inc., the denomination’s caucus for Blacks in The United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Marilyn Magee Talbert welcomes the gathering and honors her husband’s legacy to The United Methodist Church. She served as honorary chairperson of the Talbert Leadership launch and celebration of Bishop Melvin Talbert’s 75th birthday and 49th year of ordination at a July 11 gala luncheon in Nashville, TN. She told Bishop Talbert, “While we recognize that you are God's gift of grace to the world, your family and I know your gentleness, your generosity, and your availability to us."
